KIU Titans suffered a 79-61 defeat against Namuwongo Blazers in game one of the National Basketball League semifinal series on Thursday night at Lugogo Indoor Arena despite displaying an unwavering fighting spirit.
The Titans started brightly with Obleng firing from close and long range but quickly lost their rhythm midway in the first quarter to trail Namuwongo by 13 points (27-14) at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter, Lutwama's boys tried to fight back into the game but the Blazers kept their foot on the gas pedal to open an 18-point lead going into halftime.
The Titans’ greatly improved in offense in the second half but failed to efficiently defend the clinical Blazers .Both teams scored 30 in the second half which saw the Namuwongo slum outfit claim game one.
Peter Obleng (17 points) and Edgar Munaba (12 points) scored in double figures for the Titans who will look to bounce back stronger in game two.
Game two is scheduled for Sunday at the same venue (Lugogo Indoor Arena).
