KIU Basketball Fan,Santos Reveals Trick Behind Robust Voice

Vicent Sekatawa, a devoted KIU basketball fan known as Santos, has revealed the trick behind his strongly consistent voice. Many basketball fans utilize alcoholic concoctions to keep their voices from breaking during games, but Sekatawa's approach is simple yet amazing.

Known for his spirited "Titans res go" chants, Santos maintains his robust voice from tip-off to full time, a feat few fans achieve.

After acquiring his ticket and a perfect place on the sidelines, Santos normally starts his job with his famous cries, "Res go, res go Titans, res go," though at times he begins the drumming as the rest of the crowd follows. He credits his long-lasting voice to a simple but effective trick: water.

"I take 2.5 litres of water throughout the game, which I believe helps me maintain a smooth and clear voice—perhaps the rest is natural."

A law student at KIU, Santos actively engages in university activities beyond sports, yet his standout quality lies in attending KIU Titans and KIU Rangers games with unwavering punctuality.

In the 2023 season, his influential voice played a pivotal role in the team's success. Alongside his vocal contributions, Santos passionately drums during game days, showcasing an indescribable dedication to the club.

Addressing the apparent time management challenge, Santos explains, "The timetable for my academics and the National Basketball League program don't contradict."

"Most basketball games take place at night, while my lectures are during the day, allowing me to attend each activity at its designated time."

While balancing time seems straightforward, the financial aspect raises questions. Santos clarifies,

"I prepare transport money and ticket funds. As a student, I pay 5000 shillings for entrance, allocate 2000 shillings for transport, and reserve 3000 shillings for water and snacks. My game day runs on a budget of only 10000 shillings."

Having supported KIU Titans and Rangers since high school, Santos reflects on the thrilling 2023 season, where both teams reached the finals, marking a significant improvement.

"2023 was the best season for KIU titan and rangers. Seeing both teams reach finals, was good and a great improvement."

The Titans' two wins against City Oilers in the finals stand out as his best moments, while the loss in game six to the eventual champions remains his worst.

"Ofcourse I feel bad each time we lose but my worst moment was when we lost to the Oilers in game six of the finals last season. It ended all our hopes."

Despite the off-season for his favorite teams, Santos remains engaged, watching division 1 and 2 basketball games, the 16 Elite league road to BAL, and following NBA and football.

As the anticipation builds for the 2024 National Basketball League season in January, Santos hopes for a triumphant performance from both KIU Titans and KIU Rangers, aspiring to bring home the trophies.

"I just want both teams to win the trophies next season so that we can keep them home and we can make it happen."
