KIU Rangers wrapped up their 2024 National Basketball League season on Sunday, finishing in fourth place after a tough 50-70 loss to the JT Lady Jaguars in the third-place playoff game.

Despite the defeat, the Rangers put on a spirited performance, showcasing their determination and resilience throughout the season.

This marked the first time that Julius Lutwama's squad had fallen to the JT Lady Jaguars, adding an unexpected twist to an otherwise impressive campaign.

The Rangers were outscored by a 20-point margin, but their tenacity was evident as they battled hard until the final whistle.

It’s worth noting that the team had been off the court for nearly ten days, following their semifinal loss to UCU Lady Canons, which may have contributed to their slower start.

Nevertheless, the Rangers showed their depth and adaptability, playing without star forward Mary Moses Amaniyo and head coach Julius Lutwama.

The team’s leadership void was admirably filled by assistant coach Richard Mutawulu and club statistician Timothy Amanya, who stepped up under pressure.

Rangers' standouts Ines Kanyamuneza and her assistant delivered stellar performances, each scoring a game-high of 20 points, highlighting the duo’s formidable offensive prowess.

The Captains' efforts ensured that the Rangers ended their season on a high note, reflecting the team’s fighting spirit and potential for future success.

While the season didn't conclude with a podium finish, the Rangers have every reason to hold their heads high. Their journey this year has been one of growth, determination, and unforgettable moments on the court.

With a solid foundation and a taste of what it takes to compete at the top level, the Rangers are already looking ahead, ready to make an even bigger statement next season.
