KIU Titans delivered a remarkable performance in game two of the 2024 National Basketball League finals but fell short in the final moments, losing 70-64 to the City Oilers on Friday .

This defeat gives the Oilers a 2-0 lead in the series.

The Titans showed resilience by staging a strong comeback, leading 34-28 at halftime. However, the Oilers fought back to take the lead by the end of the third quarter.

In a tense fourth quarter, the Titans managed to regain a four-point lead with just four minutes remaining. Unfortunately, an injury to Joel Lukoji Banza disrupted their momentum, which allowed the City Oilers to capitalize and turn the game around.

Despite the setback, Banza remains hopeful about the Titans' prospects in the finals. He expressed confidence that the team still has a chance to compete for the championship, despite being down two games.

"We are still in the contest much as we are now down by two games. It's not yet over; we shall fight back starting on Sunday," Banza said in a post-game interview.

He also apologized to the fans on behalf of the team, acknowledging that they didn't do enough to secure the win but emphasizing that they have learned valuable lessons and will improve.

Banza also urged KIU Titans fans to keep believing in the team.

"I know it pains to lose a game after so much effort and hope. Now the only choice we have is to win the remaining games but not to give up. We are still fighting, and we shall fight until we can't fight any longer," he said.

With the series now at 2-0 in favour of City Oilers, the Titans will look to regroup and bring their best performance to the upcoming games to keep the championship hopes alive
